I was born in Iran and lived there into early adulthood, serving as an elementary school teacher. Now, I live on the East Coast of the U.S. with my family - Upstate NY. I am a self-taught artist with the goal of creating art that evokes emotion. Through my work, I capture my emotions and thoughts, hoping it will resonate with the audience. Ultimately, I leave the interpretation of my artwork up to the viewer and hope it will in some way make an impact.

My journey as an artist began in 2005, after my son & daughter gave me a life-changing present for my birthday! This gift included canvases of all sizes, brushes and colorful paints. With this gift, my children allowed me to begin exploring the amazing world of art. On my birthday, I felt completely reborn. Ever since, I have mostly painted abstract art as I have come to find that it is the best manner in which I can fully express myself. It allows me to explore all of the feelings and emotions I experience from internal thoughts and my surrounding environment.

My paintings come from my heart, my thoughts, dreams and misfortunes. They are also greatly influenced by every day moments and events that have occurred. For instance, my painting “The Flood” was influenced after the tragic flooding that took place in the Southern Tier of NY in 2006. My painting “Dream Under the Ocean” was the product of an unforgettable dream. I am very drawn to my environment and respond to the patterns and colors found in nature. This is why nature is a central theme for much of my work.

Creating a tangible piece of art gives me a deep sense of joy and fulfillment. It brings out my inner-self and a level of creativity I was unaware of until I started partaking in the painting process. My hope in this lifetime is for all individuals to find self-awareness through art - there is so much you can learn about your deepest emotions, fears, joys, and desires by allowing yourself to express them through art.
